How do I find God?
How do I find God?

Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father but by me." (John 14:6)

Good works cannot save you.

"For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Trust Jesus today! Here's what to do:

1. Admit you are a sinner.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23)

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10)

2. Be willing to turn from sin (repent).

Jesus said: "I tell you, No: but, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:5)

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

"But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

"That if you shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shall be saved." (Romans 10:9)

4. Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Savior.

"For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10)

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

Maybe this is a prayer that would work for you?

God, its taken my whole life, to come to a place where I realize that I need you. I can’t fix myself. I can’t change who I am and what I do to myself and others. I don’t care anymore about what anyone would think if I told them that, yes, I need God. I need to be saved from me. My problems aren’t the problem, I’m the problem. It’s my sins. The things that I do to myself and others that I know in my heart are wrong. And you God have seen everything that I have done and I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus came to save me from my sins and that’s why he chose to die in my place on the cross and shed His blood for my sin. Jesus, please save me from my sins. Please forgive me. I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore and am willing to turn from sin. I’m giving myself to you so that you can change me, so that I can be free from my guilt and shame and my sins. I now invite you, Jesus, to come into my heart and life and be my personal Savior and Lord.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

If you prayed that prayer in your heart and received Jesus as your Savior, here are some things that will make the difference.

1. Tell someone that you accepted Jesus as your Savior.

Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But who ever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32-33)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)

God doesn’t have secret agents. You’ll find that as you tell that first person about the fact that you accepted Jesus as you Savior, you will know in your heart that God is there with you. He will show Himself to you and you will feel His Holy Spirit in your heart. You could even tell me that you accepted Jesus as your Saviour, in an e-mail. Not for my sake (I would be really excited for you if you did), but for your sake. Not only would you find peace with God, but Jesus said that you would also have eternal life by believing in Him. E-mail me and confess your belief in Jesus. wepursuechrist@aol.com

2. Read the Gospel of John. It’s in the New Testament. It has the words of Jesus that eye witnesses wrote down so that you could know what he said.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119:105)

3. Talk to God in prayer. Not just this one time , all the time.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6)

God isn’t about giving you everything that you want. He’s God. He wants you to know Him and the Holy Spirit is the still small voice that speaks to your spirit. If you just stop and be quite and talk to Him he will give you peace.

4. Be baptized, worship, find other people who confess Jesus as their Savior. Listen to the Holy Spirit.
